Day 3 of our Juice Fast

Day 2 went very well! It was still difficult resisting things when everyone around you was eating greasy, good-smelling food!! But we did it. By the end of the night I went on a walk with the dog and felt good. I slept pretty well last night too....but the main thing that made me feel like I could persevere through this was how energized and radiant I felt this morning (Day 3)! My mind is clear and I'm not feeling stressed at all which will definitely help my stress-induced hives! Couldn't be happier.
Day 3--So far I made a huge batch of juice to last me all day, for my visit to Kentucky. I got on the scale and WOW I lost 4.5 lbs so far (in 2.5 days)! I think my dad has lost at least 15 lbs and we feel awesome :) The way we feel is what's pushing us on...
P.S: I hope they have a Whole Foods or Farmers Market that juices in Bowling Green! I'm going to be there for a couple of days and WILL NOT break this fast :)

Day 2 of Mean Green

(A few of the ingredients that we plan to use)
Day 1 started out pretty well...I felt good, but by the afternoon I felt tired, had a tiny headache, and cloudy vision. Family at work had a cake and cookies sitting on the table....so NOT cool! Dad and I just stared at it haha. We persevered, even though I went to the mall around some GOOD food! My dad felt a little 'depressed' for lack of a better word. We are just used to eating great meals...so it was a change.

Day 2, I woke up very energized. I weighed myself and lost 2 lbs. I also realized that I did not have the itchiness from my hives at all while I was sleeping, which was a BIG improvement.
This morning, I added a few fruits to my breakfast juice to keep my energy up. All in all, good results so far, mixed in with some side effects...but I was aware that the first few days are very difficult as your body gets over those hunger pangs.

April 2, 2012--Day 1 of my Mean Green Juice Fast

Well, my dad and I decided to do this mean green cleanse and I thought I'd blog about it to make me feel more accountable for the whole detox process!
My dad had a health scare a couple weeks ago and was put in the hospital for a few days...He was basically having some intestinal issues and would have to change up his entire diet, which is difficult for a cajun! I decided I'd embark on this journey with him! As it was a wake up call to see my 'strong' dad in such a vulnerable state :(
We were referred to a Natural Health Practitioner named Dee Baudoin (she's amazing), who told us a number of issues our bodies were having, and also ways to help 'cleanse' our bodies naturally...with herbs and veggie juices, etc.
We were told to watch a movie called Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead to give us motivation, which we did. And it pumped my dad and I to start this Mean Green Juice Fast ASAP!
So today is Day 1...The Mean Green consists of kale, celery, cucumber, lemon, ginger, and green apples.
Wish us luck! We are shooting for 14 days, maybe 21...Goal is 30-60! And I will keep you updated with mine and my dad's progress!

My Food Revolution

I have decided...not all at once...but over time, to completely change my diet. I am doing this for more than one reason. First of all, I don't want to die young. I want to live a long AND healthy life for myself, my partner, and my future children. I also don't want to contribute to the cruelty towards animals in the factory farming industry. Not only that, but the food is pumped with such terrible and unhealthy things that allow them to make the products more quickly and for a cheaper price, and that allows the food to last longer. Sounds great, right? But is this "cheaper way out" an appropriate substitute? Is eating processed foods, and food that really isn't food at all, an appropriate solution for saving money and time on our meals? After a deep personal analysis of what I think really matters in life, I've come to the conclusion that buying groceries with a later expiration date (or NO expiration date at all) isn't worth risking a shorter life. I am not saying that I am turning into a vegan or vegetarian, because this important discussion goes further than animals. I am stating that "I will only eat REAL food". I will research all of my food before I eat it and make sure to be completely conscious of everything I consume. I will document my journey, hopefully daily, and let you take a look inside my struggles, developments, and discoveries through this life changing process. Wish me luck!!!!! (I'm SURE I'll need it)

GOTTA have these CHAIN shades!!!

So what do you think of these shades that a few stylish sexies are sportin around town? Rihanna's been wearin the pair that I also found on www.patriciafield.com. Amber Rose has been sportin her vintage Chanels that are TO DIE FOR. But as much as I would loooove to, I can't be reaching waaaay deep in my pockets and spending massive amounts just to support my fashion fetish. I mean $250 for these suckas, really??? Maybe next lifetime...but until then I can TRY to make do with some DIY tips that I found on a few other blogs. I took some of their tips and sorta changed it up to make it mine! Instead of using the huge chain that the other girls were rockin, I wanted to go with a less "gangsta" type theme and more of an M.I.A., feminine feel. So VOILA!! Check it out....

1. Ok basically grab a pair of cheap glasses with, preferably, a flat top (makes gluing MUCH easier). I got my glasses on sale for $3 at Heritage in the mall. Then get a chain of some sort. Doesn't have to be the ghetto fab chain. It can be whatever you wanna rock, but the lighter in weight the chain is the better...the glue will stay better and the glasses will stay on your face!!!

2. Next grab a glue gun and start gluing away! I actually glued in dots across the top rather than a line, it made my chain come out more even and straight on top. I started doing dots right in the middle of the glasses and worked my way out, that way the chain was more balanced at all times. Blow Blow Blow on the glue, make sure its dry before moving to the next piece of chain. Wait at least a few hours to make sure everything is secure, and then strut your shades like ur on Rodeo Drive with the paparazzi flashin ;)

And this is the end product!! Whatcha think??

P.S: Don't mind the lack of makeup :)
